A-Teamers getting into full swing (ride)
The A-Team Jacksonville was seen spinning it up this weekend on the roads of North/Central Florida. Saturday’s Velo Brew B ride witnessed 80% of the A-Teamers working on their cycling conditioning preparing for the rapidly advancing double century – TOSRV in April. The highlight of the ride was the A-Teamers improvising the route to take advantage of a rest stop at Starbucks. Four grown men in spandex and cycling cleats sipping espresso provided the Starbucks onlookers with plenty of entertainment.
Sunday, a glorious sunny crisp day, I rode the “hills” of Clermont, Fl spinning up all the central Florida classics including Buckhill, Citrus Hill and good ole Sugarloaf. Clermont is an A-Team favorite destination – all I can say about the ride is “love those wheels!”
Not certain where the rest of the team rode on Sunday, probably the WGV for most and I’m guessing Mr. Sluder was participating in some single track action?
Other Pro cycling news - Levi Leipheimer took 3rd in the Paris-Nice prologue last night – Holly was excited. Upon doing some research on Levi’s Gran Fondo in October, Holly realized Levi will be riding with us, sort of, during the Gran Fondo.

LeMond and Trek reach an accord
Sadly, it doesn't increase the value of used LeMond bikes in the marketplace.

Contador says he's better
Alberto Contador told a Spanish newspaper that he hadn't reached his peak implying he will be better, Bruyneel says Lance is stronger...this July should be a great TDF as these two settle it on the road. Look for Lance to try & shove Contador in a ditch during the TDF.

Relief for Haiti
A fellow cycling icon, Lance Armstrong, once said "it's not all about the bike."

The Tour trip, then and now
How time flies.
When I went in 2003, the cost of the 10-day Paris-to-Marseilles trip was about $3K with Custom Getaways. Now, because it is the "official U.S. Tour travel company," the cost for the 10-day trip is ... $9K. (Of course, they are probably staying in better hotels and have helicopter transfers.)
But here's the thing: Those people who shell out the $9K won't have as much fun as we did.

Just chiming in

Peter mentioned the new Velonews bike issue recently. What he didn't mention was the world's most expensive bike is featured inside.
But don't look for it at any of the classics or Tours. It's a track bike. And it goes for a measly $114,865.
Open Road has several, one is sure to fit you perfectly. Ask Scott about his EZ Lay-a-way plan.
We're not alone!!
Contador: Cold weather hampering training
MADRID (AP) -- Tour de France champion Alberto Contador says the unusually cold weather in Europe is hampering his preseason training plans.
The Astana rider said Tuesday his training so far has been "difficult to sort out."
"The winter we've been having in Europe this year - and especially in my area - I can't remember one as bad as this one," Contador said of his hometown Pinto, which is south of Madrid and been hit by freezing temperatures and snow.
But the Spanish rider still feels he's in good shape going into Astana's 10-day preseason training camp Thursday at Calpe, Spain.
The 2007 and 2009 Tour de France champion will start his season at the Tour of Algarve in Portugal in mid-February, but doesn't believe he'll win that race because of the lack of training.
"This year, I don't think I'll arrive there at the same level as last year," Contador said. "But it will be a good warm-up for the rest of the races."
Contador expects to compete in Paris-Nice in March and perhaps the Tour of Catalonia and Tour of the Basque Country. He has not ruled out the Giro d'Italia or Spanish Vuelta, but said his priority is the Tour de France.
Contador said Astana has built a good team around him since the departure of Lance Armstrong and Levi Leipheimer.
"We've managed to put together a pretty competitive team that is quite complete, one that is at the level that the Tour requires," he said.
